Participants of exhibition: Kristina Norvilaitė (graphics), Edith Suchockytė (graphics), Martin Gaubas (painting, sculpture). The idea of the exhibition is to express two different means about the look of woman’s life, to know what lies behind the standard description of a woman.

These are the new viewing angles of artists to the woman’s everyday life. The idea is to reveal the mystery that always exists in “normal” side of things. Domestic situations, relations with men, women, eroticism – all this is just the tip of iceberg which lies hidden deep in female essence. The exhibition presents new works created for this exhibition.

The exhibition consists of a symbolic, decorative K. Norvilaite linen carvings, laconic and poetic E. Suchockyte drypoints, M. Gaube ironic, light painting and sculpture works.

Individual touch of colors by this artist can be easily identified from the musical, realistic painting, soft modeling. The easy touch of the paintings inspired by the life of the characters: the Jewish priests and their synagogues. Even thoughtfulness and concern for them seems clear, light and elaborate. K. Milkevičius is like a chronicler, writing down with pen, with the sensitive harmony of colors.

The artist studied at the J.Gruodis School of Music, J. Naujalis art school. Later he entered the Vilnius Institute of Art, which acquired the painter, teacher specialty. He was taught by painters J. Švažas, A. Gudaitis, V. Gecas. Since 1977 K. Milkevičius started participating in exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad.

Although the exhibition is comprised of multiple objects, paintings, and photographs, but the territory occupied by each artist can be simply called a work.

The artists talk about different states by using or transforming the medium of photography. In his photographs of the transitions between culture and nature, Remigijus Treigys captures the splinters and debris of time that fill the void extending between them. Agne Jonkute transfers to the canvas what the lens of a camera made in the interwar period, directed at a reinforced concrete house wall or a washed-off curtain, has captured, while Brone Neverdauskiene and Monika Zaltauskaite-Grasiene use human skin as his own history and turn it into different woven patterns with the help of computer jacquard weaving, and build objects from these patterns. Their work has been show last year at Moscow Biennale.

Participating artists conceptions could be described by exhibition’s motto “All that God turns away from becomes human, all that man abandons becomes perfect”, says curator Ignas Kazakevicius.

Easter is celebrated on the first full moon after the vernal equinox on Sunday. Pancake Day is celebrated 7 weeks before Easter, between 5th of February and 8th of March.

In the twentieth century this celebration was celebrated at the beginning of the three holy days: Sunday, Monday and Tuesday and now – only on Tuesday, 46 days before Easter. Museum has selected Sunday before Pancake Days Tuesday, so as to many Tuesday is a Labor Day.

People have become wealthy, but at the same time, lost traditions and values. Young people found it difficult to find their place in need of new rules and approach to life.

It is the first extensive showcase of contemporary art from this region presented in Lithuania.

The show focuses on young- and youngest-generation artists in an attempt to capture the condition of the mind and spirit of a generation trying to redefine itself, to find a place for itself between a sense of attachment to the national tradition, history, and an increasingly globalized and technologized reality.
